Vasil Kisil & Partners participating in the Congress of International Council for Commercial Arbitration in Ireland

June 8-10, 2008, Dublin (Ireland). Partner of Vasil Kisil & Partners law firm Oleg Alyoshin and the law firm councilor Tetyana Slipachuk participated in the anniversary Congress of International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA)

The three-day congress in Dublin was organized by ICCA under the auspices of the Law Society of Ireland and marked the 50th anniversary of New York Convention of 1958 on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards. This year the Congress was attended by the largest ever number of investment and commercial arbitration experts - over 700 participants from 51 countries of the world.

The importance of the event was emphasized by the presence of chief magistrates and general secretaries heading the topline arbitration institutions worldwide, including ICSID, London Court of International Arbitration, ICC International Court of Arbitration, Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, American Arbitration Association and the majority of international arbitration courts of the national chambers of commerce in Europe and arbitration centers in Asia and Latin America. The discussion points comprised the procedural peculiarities of investment arbitration, UNCITRAL work in respect of the new version of Arbitration Rules and the issues of implementation and historical implication of the 1958 New York Convention. The solemn entertainment on the occasion of the Convention 50th anniversary coincided with the exact date of its adoption - June 10.

Vasil Kisil & Partners representatives partook in the operation of both working groups of the Congress being the active participants of general debates and discussions of most vexed practical issues.

The spirited discussions continued on the sidelines of Congress developing the apparent interest in the international arbitration practice in Ukraine.
