23/02/2009

The Pan-Ukrainian Law School on legal regulation of the securities and stock market was held in Puscha-Vodytsia (Kyiv) on February 20 to 22, 2009, as arranged by the Students League of the Ukrainian Bar Association. This event was intended to study and discuss legal regulation shortfalls related to issuance and circulation of securities in Ukraine, and to analyze securities transactions in the stock market and teach law students how to implement them in practice.

The law school on legal regulation of the securities and stock market gathered more than 30 law students representing schools of law from all over Ukraine. Ms. Anna Babych, a senior associate with Vasil Kisil & Partners and recognized expert in the Ukrainian securities and stock market and M&A transactions, was invited by the UBA Students League to report at the Pan-Ukrainian School in Puscha-Vodytsia on such topic as Legal Regulation of the Securities Market: specific circulation of shares in relation to the Law of Ukraine “On Joint Stock Companies” coming into force.

The report delivered by Ms. Anna Babych covered nearly all aspects of securities market regulation in connection with the Law of Ukraine “On Joint Stock Companies” coming into force, legal regulation of shares circulation in Ukraine, new requirements to a form of joint stock companies, specific circulation of shares in joint stock companies, and accounting of certificated shares, etc.

“It should be mentioned that the school participants are highly trained. Each of the speeches on the topic gave rise to reasonable discussion of urgent issues related to legal regulation of the securities market in Ukraine, and participants were keen to express their opinions and held discussion heatedly, and thus undoubtedly facilitated the learning of materials proposed,” said Ms. Anna Babych.
