IFLR1000 2014 Recommends Vasil Kisil & Partners in M&A, Banking and Finance

On October 04, 2013 International Finance Law Review (IFLR 1000) 2014, the guide to the world’s leading financial law firms, published the results of its research. Once again this directory recommends Vasil Kisil & Partners as one of the best Ukrainian law firms in Banking and Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&А).

According to the researchers of the market, in 2013 VKP has been very active in development of these practices – a range of successfully closed deals helped the firm to get positive recommendations from peers and colleagues and move up to tier two in M&A, and also to safe their rankings in Banking & Finance. “They provide the best in practice legal services, describing the legal issues and background and giving options to resolve the issue with quantifications of legal risks and then proposing what they think is the best option,” says one client.

The respondents consider that success of M&A deals is achieved first and foremost thanks to Denis Lysenko, partner and head of practice group, and Anna Babych, partner, who are given a good deal of credit for the firm’s rise to prominence. One of the biggest deals in 2013 was the Summa Group’s acquisition of a controlling interest in Far-Eastern Shipping Company for $1.4 billion where VKP’s team represented the buyer.

The directory also mentions that though the banking and finance team is active in capital markets work and general lending, a good amount of its time is occupied by banking M&A. Yulia Kyrpa, who heads the practice and led on most of the deals, has a good name among peers and clients. Speaking of her and her associate, Kseniya Ostrovskaya, one client says: “Yulia and Ksenia formed an excellent team: responsive, a pleasure to deal with, flexible and finding client oriented solutions.” One of Kyrpa’s high profile mandates in 2013 saw her advising a local entity on the acquisition of Erste Bank from the Austrian bank’s wider group.

Denis Lysenko, Anna Babych and Yulia Kyrpa have also been listed among the leading Ukrainian lawyers in M&A and banking and finance.
