Vasil Kisil & Partners' Partner Andriy Stelmashchuk Elected UBA’s Board Member

May 30-31, 2013, Yalta hosted the 10th Annual Legal Conference of the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA), the main event of this organization, which traditionally brings together members of the legal profession from different regions of Ukraine. This year, more than a hundred participants had the opportunity to discuss current issues of the industry, mingle with colleagues and friends and elect a new leadership of the Association.

Partner Andriy Stelmashchuk and Counsellor Alexei Sluch represented Vasil Kisil & Partners law firm at this forum, while Counsellor Ivan Yurchenko and Associate Ievgen Levitskyi participated in the work of the Assembly.

The first day of the conference was devoted to the discussion of topical issues of corporate and tax law as well as recent legislative changes in real estate and construction. After the working sessions delegates participated in the traditional presidential reception, during which the current President of UBA Valentin Zagariya thanked the general sponsors who supported Association's endeavours throughout the year, in particular, Vasil Kisil & Partners law firm and presented commemorative crystals. During the second day of the conference dedicated to the judicial practice and procedural law review, Mr Stelmashchuk made a presentation, which highlighted certain aspects of the invalidity of transactions in the context of tax disputes.

During the 10th UBA Annual Legal Conference a meeting of UBA’s Legal Assembly, the supreme managerial body of the Association, was held. The main item on the agenda was the election of the new leadership of the Ukrainian Bar Association, which is going to determine the policy of the organization and its development strategy for 2013-2015. Members of the Legal Assembly almost unanimously supported the candidacy of Denis Bugay (Vashchenko, Bugay and Partners) for the post of UBA President. VKP’s representatives were also elected to the managerial and controlling bodies of UBA: Mr Stelmashchuk became Member of the Governing Board, Mr Sluch – Member of UBA’s Audit Committee and Mr Levitskyi – Member of the Electoral Commission.
