The senior associate Ivan Yurchenko, Vasil Kisisl & Partners, attended a general members meeting of the International Fiscal Association (Ukrainian branch) held on February 12, 2009 with the participation of Yurii Hladun, head of international relations of the State Tax Administration of Ukraine.
At the meeting, Mr. Hladun presented to those present the STAU’s position related to application of the double taxation treaties made with Cyprus and the Netherlands, and potential drafting of such treaty with Luxemburg. The participants were informed of the progress in coordination of the joint position to be taken by the STAU with tax authorities of the Netherlands in relation to qualifications required to apply tax exemption provisions to dividends at the source of payment.
Mr. Ivan Yurchenko believes that the Netherlands is rightfully treated as one of the most favorable jurisdictions to plan investment taxes and have corporate business efficiently managed in Ukraine.
