Vasil Kisil & Partners pulls off a near-clean sweep at the 3rd annual Legal Awards Ceremony “Yurpremia 2009”

On June 5, 2009, Ukraine’s legal elite gathered at Hyatt Regency Kiev for the grand event of the year – the Legal Award Ceremony “Yuridicheskaya premia 2009” organized by “The Yuridicheskaya Practika” newspaper . The purpose of the Awards was to recognize those legal professionals (both companies and individuals) who have demonstrated the most distinguished achievements in various fields of law practice.
In his opening remarks Editor-in-Chief of “The Yuridicheskaya Practika” Yuri Zabara welcomed more than 200 leading lawyers and top-managers of the largest companies who attended the ceremony and said: “The response this year has been fantastic with greater than ever number of entries. In the current climate this gives us a much needed reassurance that these awards become more and more popular and are admired by the profession.”
As the Third Annual Legal Awards Ceremony unraveled its winners it became clear why Vasil Kisil & Partners scooped the coveted Law Firm of the Year award second year in a row. This year the firm captured 6 awards – a strong evidence of its full service capacity and its leadership in Ukraine.
Denis Lysenko, Head of Antirust & Competition Practice, accepted the Law Firm of the Year in Competition Law award and thanked his team for their dedication and motivation, which already secured them a win in this category back in 2007.
For the second year in a row VKP’s Litigation Practice headed by Oleksiy Filatov was named Best in the Country with its senior counselor Dr. Vadym Belyanevych receiving Best Litigation Lawyer Award.
With 2 specialist from VKP nominated in the Best Real Estate Lawyer category, the award went to the Head of Real Estate & Construction Practice of the firm Oleg Alyoshin, who thanked his colleagues and, particularly, the other nominee – Natalia Dotsenko-Belous for excellent work during what undoubtedly was one of the hardest years for real estate and construction sector.
VKP’ Managing Partner Oleg Makarov also received the special Editor’s Choice Award “For outstanding professional achievements”. As Ukraine’s legal community enjoyed the rest of this spectacular event to the sounds of the beautiful opera selection performed by “Barcelona” duet Vasil Kisil & Partners table, where aside from the above-mentioned winners and nominees Senior Associate Anna Babych and Head of PR&BD Tatyana Sabitova were present, celebrated the very teamwork approach that brought them this unprecedented victory.
