Andriy Stelmashchuk, Senior Associate with Vasil Kisil & Partners Law Firm, served as Head Judge at the All-Ukrainian Moot Court Competition in Administrative Law and Procedure

The 1st All-Ukrainian Moot Court Competition in Administrative Law and Procedure hosted by the Students’ League of the Ukrainian Bar Association was held in Zaporizhia on December 12-13, 2008.

During the impromptu court debates, the participants of 13 teams acted as parties of the administrative process. They had to present and justify the point of view of the side whose interests they represented, state their stand regarding the qualification of the questionable legal relationship by giving arguments based on case papers, as well as on principals and provisions of the Ukrainian legislation.

The competitors were evaluated by practicing lawyers, including attorneys at law, judges of administrative courts, and representatives of government. Andriy Stelmashchuk, Senior Associate with Vasil Kisil & Partners Law Firm, served as head judge on the panel of judges presiding over the final round of the competition.

The major goal of the event pioneered by its hosts and general partner (Vasil Kisil & Partners Law Firm) is to provide ways for future lawyers to gain and enhance their skills of putting the theoretical knowledge in administrative law and procedure into practice, encourage the young lawyers to research the legislation systematically and profoundly and help law students to develop their public speaking skills.
