Vasil Kisil & Partners advised the Ukrainian Red Cross Society on governance matters.

The Ukrainian Red Cross Society is the only national Red Cross society in Ukraine, comprising 186 corporate members and over 5,500 individual members. The objective of the Society is to assist the state in providing medical and humanitarian assistance during armed conflicts and emergencies and provide social assistance to the least protected segments of the population.

Vasil Kisil & Partners’ team advised the Society on the creation of a new system of governing bodies and provided advice on interaction with other Red Cross organizations. Following a thorough analysis, VKP lawyers drafted a new wording of the Society’s Charter that incorporates best practices, requirements of Ukrainian laws, and guidelines of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The project team run by Volodymyr Igonin included Anatoliy Pashynskyi, Associate, and Anastasiia Prychta, Junior Associate.

“For us the project was an interesting professional challenge because when working on the new charter it was necessary to agree among themselves the special Law “On the Ukrainian Red Cross Society,” other laws on non-governmental organizations, foreign sources, such as the Guidance for National Society Statutes of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the proposals of the Society itself,”  commented Volodymyr Igonin, Partner at Vasil Kisil & Partners.
