Corporate dispute in a television broadcaster

Representing an international media company operating several television channels in Central and Eastern Europe in a dispute over the controlling stake in one of major Ukrainian TV broadcasters with about 35% of Ukrainian TV audience share.
The matter involved a range of cases at various courts until the principal dispute was successfully resolved in favour of our client, which decision was confirmed by the Supreme Court of Ukraine.
The principal case involved a dispute over the existence and validity of a shares purchase agreement, option agreements and shareholders' preemptive rights.
The case implied several precedents as to interpretation of the new Ukrainian Civil Code rules. The case was brought up to the Supreme Court twice, both times resulting in a favorable judgment.
